La Orotava to El Portillo

Starting from the outskirts of La Oratava, the El Portillo climb is another popular route, up the El Teide from the north. Just follow the TF-21 all the way up the top and the junction with TF-24. Its very well sign posted. Once you reach the top you can either choose to carry on towards the Cable Car on TF-21 or take TF-24 and head east towards La Esperanza. This route will offer you great sea views and the tarmac is in excellent condition. After all this climbing a coffee stop will be essential at the top.
