Is the Apollo Chaos 20 Inch a Good Junior Mountain Bike?

Finding the right bike for a growing child can be surprisingly difficult. It needs to be tough enough for adventures, light enough to handle with confidence, and affordable enough that parents feel they're getting real value for money. The Apollo Chaos Junior Mountain Bike ticks plenty of those boxes, making it one of the standout 20 inch Junior Bikes for families looking for an entry-level mountain bike.

Available for around £180, the Apollo Chaos Junior Mountain Bike 20 inch combines a durable steel frame, front suspension and a 6-speed Shimano gearing system, giving young riders everything they need to build confidence on parks, trails and family rides.

Why Choose the Apollo Chaos Junior Mountain Bike?

One of the biggest strengths of the Apollo Chaos is its simplicity. Rather than being overloaded with complicated components, it focuses on giving younger riders a comfortable, enjoyable experience. The robust steel frame is built to cope with everyday use, whether that's cycling to school, riding around the local park or exploring woodland paths at the weekend. Front suspension helps smooth out uneven surfaces, making rough trails feel less intimidating for new riders. For children who are beginning to tackle hills, the Shimano Revoshift 6-speed gearing offers straightforward gear changes that are easy to understand and operate.

Who Is the Apollo Chaos 20 Inch Bike For?

The Apollo Chaos Junior Mountain Bike 20 inch is designed for children approximately:

• Height: 117cm to 135cm
• Age: 6 to 11 years (guide only)

It's an excellent option for children who are moving up from a smaller bike and are ready to develop their confidence on longer rides. Whether they're riding around the neighbourhood, joining family cycling adventures or discovering gentle off-road tracks, this bike offers a reassuring combination of stability and control.

Ride Quality and Performance

Despite its affordable price, the Apollo Chaos feels well equipped for everyday riding. The front suspension fork helps absorb smaller bumps and uneven paths, while the air-filled tyres provide good grip across gravel, grass and tarmac. The V-brakes deliver predictable stopping power and are easy to maintain, making them ideal for younger riders learning proper braking techniques. At around 13kg, it isn't the lightest junior bike available, but that's fairly typical for steel-framed bikes in this price bracket. The benefit is a frame that feels sturdy and durable enough for years of family adventures.
