Colnago C72 Road Frameset The Colnago C72 frameset represents a pinnacle of Italian engineering, transcending the typical race bike by prioritising a perfectly composed ride over singular, exaggerated metrics. Hand-built in Italy with a strictly limited production of 3,000 units per year, this masterpiece is supplied with the dedicated CC.02 integrated cockpit and proprietary seatpost to provide the ultimate foundation for a cycling experience rooted in precision, balance, and heritage. Masterful Modular Construction and Craftsmanship While the industry leans heavily into mass-produced monocoque frames, the Colnago C72 reaffirms the superiority of deliberate, patient craftsmanship. By utilising a modular construction method, Colnago’s artisans can fine-tune stiffness, compliance, and force distribution with a level of precision impossible in standard moulds. This hand-executed process ensures that every one of the seven main elements is shaped with intent, resulting in a frameset that offers immediate responsiveness under acceleration and absolute stability at high speeds. It is a build rooted in the most precious resource of all time, ensuring your custom project is as exclusive as it is high-performing. Refined Weight and Seamless Integration Performance on the C72 has been evolved through a philosophy of lean, complete integration. The frameset has been lightened significantly, with a size 48.5cm unpainted frame weighing a mere 895g, a 30g reduction over its predecessor, the C68. This weight saving is complemented by a design that treats the frame and its dedicated components as a single entity. From the integrated bottle cage and storage box to the included seatpost, every element is tucked away to provide a clean, elegant aesthetic. This seamless relationship ensures that the bike's beauty is matched only by its aerodynamic efficiency and functional simplicity. Enhanced Handling with the CC.02 Cockpit Control is paramount when riding at the limit, which is why the C72 frameset includes the updated CC.02 integrated cockpit. This handlebar system is 15g lighter than the previous version and features a refined curve shape designed for the modern cyclist. This geometry allows for a more aggressive aerodynamic position while simultaneously improving brake lever control when riding in the drops. By providing this cockpit as standard, Colnago ensures that your custom build maintains the confidence and ergonomic support needed to translate every watt of power directly into speed. The Ultimate Canvas for Performance Choosing the C72 frameset allows you to build a bicycle that does not just excel in one area, but achieves a perfectly composed harmony between rider and machine. Because the design intent has evolved towards a more seamless relationship between frame and component, this set provides the ideal starting point for a world-class build. For the rider who seeks a bicycle capable of expressing immense power and control without excess, the C72 stands alone as the pinnacle of road cycling, ready to be outfitted with your preferred groupset and wheels to create a truly bespoke masterpiece.
