British weather can make regular cycling a challenge, particularly when dark evenings and wet roads arrive. Rouvy gives you another way to keep pedalling, turning indoor training into a journey along real roads around the world.

The Rouvy indoor cycling app combines filmed routes with digital riders and interactive training features. Connect a compatible smart trainer and its resistance adjusts to match the route’s gradients, making climbs more demanding and flatter sections easier to spin through. It brings scenery and purpose to sessions that might otherwise involve staring at the garage wall.

Why Choose Rouvy?

The main attraction is exploring real destinations while building your fitness. Rather than riding exclusively through computer-generated landscapes, you follow video footage of actual roads, from scenic coastal stretches to mountain climbs.

Rouvy also includes structured workouts, training plans, challenges, races and group rides. You can enjoy a relaxed virtual outing or follow a focused session when time is limited. For cyclists preparing for a sportive or cycling holiday, it offers a practical way to maintain consistency throughout winter.

Who Is Rouvy For?

Rouvy suits recreational cyclists, club riders and anyone who finds conventional turbo training repetitive. You do not need racing ambitions to benefit, simply an interest in riding regularly.

It is particularly appealing if scenery and exploring destinations motivate you. Busy riders can fit sessions around work and family commitments, while beginners can start with manageable routes before progressing to longer rides and tougher climbs.

What Equipment Do You Need?

You need a supported device running the app and compatible cycling equipment. A smart turbo trainer provides the most interactive experience by automatically changing resistance.

If you already own a trainer, check Rouvy’s compatibility list before buying replacements. Virtual shifting support depends on the trainer, controller, connection and firmware, so compatibility deserves particular attention when choosing Zwift Cog & Click equipment.

A fan, floor mat and somewhere convenient to position your screen also make indoor sessions more comfortable.

Rouvy Pros and Cons

Pros: Real-world scenery, varied training options, convenient year-round riding and support for a broad selection of compatible equipment.

Cons: Equipment costs can add up, ongoing subscription costs need budgeting, and trainer compatibility requires checking. Indoor riding also lacks the fresh air and natural movement of an outdoor ride.
