Lezyne Radar Pro 300: Rear Vehicle Detection and Automatic Brake Lighting

Lezyne has introduced the Radar Pro 300 rear light, combining approaching-vehicle detection with a bright daytime flash and an automatic brake-light function.

Announced on 27 October 2026, the new model is listed at £180 in the UK. For cyclists considering their first radar light, it brings another option alongside Garmin Varia. But with the earlier Lezyne Radar Drive 300 available for less, is the Pro worth the extra money?

This launch guide is based on published manufacturer specifications and UK retail information. Velostrive has not tested the Radar Pro 300.

What does the Lezyne Radar Pro 300 do?

The rear-facing radar detects approaching vehicles from up to 150 metres away and sends alerts to a compatible device. Alongside those alerts, the light provides a daytime flash output of up to 300 lumens.

The headline addition is automatic brake detection. When the unit detects deceleration, it increases its light output to draw attention to the rider slowing down. Its lighting can also respond to approaching vehicles.

For commuting and road rides, the appeal is having both traffic information and responsive lighting in one unit. Radar remains an aid to awareness, so riders still need to look behind before changing position or turning.

Will it work with your cycling computer?

Lezyne supports compatible ANT+ cycling computers, its Radar Ally smartphone app and the React Drive Front light. The app provides visual and audio alerts and allows output customisation.

Check that your exact computer supports radar alerts before buying. Having Bluetooth or ANT+ alone does not establish compatibility with every radar feature. Riders using a phone should also consider where it will sit and how they will hear or see alerts.

Lezyne Radar Pro 300 vs Garmin Varia RearVue 820

The Garmin Varia RearVue 820 is a useful comparison because it also combines radar with an automatic brake-light function.

Garmin adds vehicle-size information and lateral movement tracking on supported displays. It also claims up to 24 hours in Day Flash mode and up to 30 hours with radar alone. Lezyne's 24-hour maximum is for radar-only operation, so these headline battery figures should not be treated as equivalent.

The Lezyne is worth considering if £180 suits your budget and you want approaching-traffic alerts with responsive lighting. Garmin deserves a closer look if its richer vehicle information is important to you and your display supports it.

Is the older Radar Drive 300 better value?

The Lezyne Radar Drive 300 is a separate product, with Velostrive prices starting at £131.99 at the time of writing. That makes it £48.01 cheaper than the Pro's £180 listing.

The older model already offers radar detection and a 300-lumen daytime flash. The Pro adds the automatic brake-light function, revised housing and quarter-turn mounting interface.

If you already own a working Radar Drive, those additions are the reasons to consider upgrading. If your priority is getting radar alerts for less money, the older model remains worth comparing.

Should you buy the Radar Pro 300?

On paper, the Radar Pro 300 offers a useful combination for road cyclists and commuters who want radar alerts, daytime visibility and brake-responsive lighting. Mounting convenience and compatibility with your existing equipment should matter as much as maximum brightness.

We cannot yet judge its real-world detection consistency, brake-light sensitivity or battery performance from specifications alone.
