A rigid fork also keeps the front end simple, which gives direct handling with fewer parts to manage.16in Kenda Booster tyres: The 16x2.0 tyres provide a broad contact area while still rolling easily on firm surfaces. This helps the bike feel stable and predictable as children build balance and steering skills.Tektro V-brakes with kids' levers: Tektro J-310 V-brakes provide dependable stopping power, while the child-specific brake levers have adjustable reach. This helps smaller hands reach and operate the brakes with greater control.Single-speed drivetrain: The 26T crankset and 16T rear sprocket remove the need for gear changes. Young riders can focus on pedalling, steering and braking without having to learn how to use shifters at the same time.Kids-specific contact points: The narrow Syncros grips, child-sized riser bar, Syncros Kids II saddle and kids' pedals are sized for smaller riders. These parts help create a more natural riding position and make the controls easier to use.Practical protection and kickstand: A closed chainguard helps keep clothing and fingers away from the chain, while the stem protector adds padding around the cockpit. The included kickstand also gives the bike a simple way to stay upright when parked.A first pedal bike needs to feel manageable from the start. The Contrail 160 combines a low 6.1kg bike weight with simple gearing and controls designed around smaller hands and bodies. This makes it easier for a child to develop balance, braking and steering skills without dealing with unnecessary complexity.Choose the Scott Contrail 160 for a straightforward first pedal bike with child-sized controls, simple mechanics and dependable braking.
