Troy Brosnan wanted a unicorn of a tire with a center tread design that could easily support high speeds and sidewall plugs that could support world-class cornering speeds. The result is a masterpiece of MTB tyre engineering. All center plugs have a strong ramp to minimize drag, but retain flat, sharp edges throughout their height to provide strong braking traction. Small grooves give the plugs additional flex, increasing their surface area under braking and aiding the cornering transition to the sidewall plugs. The C-shaped sidewall plugs are alternately positioned towards the centerline and towards the outside. This tread design reduces uncertainty in the transition from the center to the shoulders in a turn. A distinct channel along both sides of the center plugs along with wide spacing between all plugs helps clear debris, ensuring consistent performance in varied conditions.
