Silca Protocol RCG-3 Gravel Tyre Engineered to conquer the world’s most demanding off-road courses, the Silca Protocol RCG-3 gravel tyre offers the ultimate balance of flat-out race speed and robust flat protection. Designed specifically for harsh Category 3 gravel events like Unbound and Big Sugar, this high-performance tyre blends ultra-fast road casing concepts with the rugged characteristics of cross-country mountain bike tread. Constructed with a supple 120 TPI Race Casing and the high-speed Pulsar compound, it incorporates an advanced SealSkin protection layer beneath the tread to defend against impact flats without adding heavy, sluggish internal friction. Engineered Tread Dynamics for Uncompromising Traction The moderate tread pattern of the RCG-3 is expertly designed to maximize grip on unpredictable terrain while keeping rolling resistance exceptionally low. Tightly spaced, elongated center knobs facilitate rapid straight-line rolling efficiency, while the knobs gradually increase in size and height towards the shoulder. This clever design increases contact patch surface area and buoyancy when leaning into turns, ensuring riders stay supported on the rubber rather than squirming on the casing during aggressive cornering over loose rocks and rough dirt. Optimized Sizing and Pressure Tuning for Race Day Developed specifically around modern rim profiles, the RCG-3 measures true to size on a 25mm internal rim width, with versatile options ranging from 45mm, 50mm, and 55mm up to a high-volume 32 x 2.4 size. Tuned to operate at slightly higher baseline inflation pressures, its specialized structural layup stabilizes the contact patch and enhances pinch-flat protection without sacrificing traction or compliance. For competitive riders looking to attack rugged race courses with total confidence and zero fear of flats, the Silca Protocol RCG-3 is the definitive speed upgrade.
