Silca Protocol RCR Road Tyre The Silca Protocol RCR Road Tyre rewrites the rules of high-volume performance by treating modern, wider sizes with the same engineering precision as elite racing rubber. Purpose-built for everything from rough local chip-seal to the brutal cobbles of Paris-Roubaix, this tire rejects the outdated assumption that wide tires must feel heavy, dead, and slow. By pairing Silca's lightning-fast Pulsar compound with a supple 120 TPI Race Casing, the RCR delivers an exceptionally lively ride quality across all three size options. Every detail is meticulously optimized for modern wide rims, ensuring true-to-size dimensions measured on a 25mm rim after initial expansion, alongside integrated SealSkin tread protection to ward off flats without compromising rolling efficiency. Rethinking Volume and Weight Historically, tires ranging from 34mm to 38mm were built with thick, touring-style casings that sacrificed speed for durability. The Protocol RCR breaks this mold with a volume-centric design philosophy, utilizing higher air volume at lower pressures to naturally absorb impacts and reduce puncture risks. This approach allows redundant rubber layers to be stripped away, yielding incredible weight figures of just 290g for the 29mm, 320g for the 34mm, and 350g for the 38mm model. The flagship 38mm version pushes volume to the absolute limit while remaining fully compliant with governing body regulations, offering maximum comfort, traction, and raw speed without any unnecessary bulk. Uncompromised Safety and Aerodynamics Engineered to excel on modern 25mm internal width rims, the 29mm variant offers the sleekest aerodynamic profile while maintaining full ETRTO compliance. To tackle the structural vulnerabilities common in tubeless and hookless configurations, Silca incorporates innovative Carbon BeadLock technology into the bead construction. Unlike conventional Kevlar beads that gradually stretch and creep under pressure?significantly increasing the risk of dangerous blowoffs?these rigid carbon fiber beads maintain their dimension permanently. Whether navigating high-speed criterium corners or tackling unpredictable road surfaces, the Protocol RCR provides absolute rim security alongside class-leading speed.
